The farm brings together Alex’s love of travelling away from the main routes and Trixi’s deep roots in Namibian hospitality.
Alex Rüegg
Alex worked in public transport in Switzerland for 25 years. During the 1980s and 1990s he travelled by motorcycle through much of Europe, America, Mexico and the northern Sahara, later continuing to Australia, Brazil, Venezuela and southern Africa.
His enthusiasm for travelling away from the main routes remains strong. He has lived on a farm in Namibia since 2009 and enjoys sharing the country’s wide landscapes with guests.
Trixi Rüegg
Born in Namibia, Trixi studied gastronomy in Cape Town and successfully ran two restaurants in Windhoek for more than ten years.
She brings that hospitality experience to Gamis and also works in reservations and administration for Nama Travel and other travel businesses. She especially enjoys preparing multi-course meals for guests in the bush.
